Artist Statement

Founded on an intuitive process and informed by scientific research, my artistic exploration delves into the profound concepts of the laws of nature, mathematics, and philosophy in relationship to the essence of our world. With a particular focus on balance and harmony within natural and manmade ecosystems, ranging from the microscopic to the cosmic, I find inspiration in the complexity and self-similarity inherent in natural patterns intricately linked to the underlying structures of the universe.

The creation of each artwork begins with an intuitive gestural stroke, as I carve a flowing, continuous line onto the canvas through freeform meditational movement. This core line serves as the foundation for each piece, guiding the deliberate and precise definition of the shapes that emerge in the final stage.

The resulting biomorphic shapes span a wide spectrum of forms, evoking various visual associations. Some bear resemblance to cosmic bodies, such as planets or stars, while others reflect the organic world of flora, with curves reminiscent of fruits, leaves, or botanical elements. Occasionally, these shapes hint at the intricate structures found within molecules, inviting viewers to explore the microscopic realm. Furthermore, these diverse organic shapes can also evoke figurations of humans and animals, eluding to their unique characteristics and forms.

Within each completed painting, the biomorphic shapes engage in an interplay that seeks a harmonious balance. Solid, firm, or textured shapes interweave with ethereal and translucent forms, relying on each other, overlapping, competing and supporting one another to strive for equilibrium within the composition. Together, these shapes contribute to a unified visual language that metaphorically captures the essence of interconnected life, evoking a profound sense of interdependence and interplay within the natural world, akin to the intricate dynamics of real-world ecosystems, both natural and man-made.

n my recent body of work, I have focused on isolating single biomorphic forms, allowing for an in-depth exploration of their individual internal qualities, textures, and nuances.

While intuition remains fundamental to my artistic practice, I integrate scientific and mathematical research to inform my creative process. Through abstract works, I strive to allude to real-world scientific concepts, capturing the essence of natural patterns and structures that permeate the cosmos. As an artist, I embrace the freedom from the rigorous logic of the sciences, harnessing the magic of creativity to encapsulate the intangible and convey the ineffable aspects of our world.
